Lumetech: Water jet cutting robot

In close cooperation with Lumetech, DANSK TEKNOLOGI has developed an awarded water jet cutting robot for deboning and slicing of fish fillets.

The cutting operation is done with water using a high-pressure water jet system. Information about where to cut is provided by a sophisticated vision system that illuminates the fishbones with the use of UV light.  

The robot was the world's fastest at the time of the development.

The robot was awarded with the JIRA Award (Japan) in 1991 for ”outstanding research and development in robotics”.
